Learning Objectives

• review and show understanding of elements of short story.

• review and show understanding of charting a text.

• Using the story "Before the End of Summer", write questions about setting, characters, theme, point of view, plot, and conflict that you think might appear on today's test.
• Share possible test questions.

• Many English sentences follow the SVO model (Subject, Verb, Object). Yesterday we learned about subjects, now we will review objects.

• Write grammar questions like those that you think might appear on our test this week. The test will be on: adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, subjects, and predicates.
• For example: "What is the adverb in the following sentence? He almost touched the top of the roof."

• Show the class your dialectical journal.
• Describe your picture--what does it represent?
• Read one of your quotations.
• What does that quotation mean?
• Why is it important?
• What is your personal response?
